Despite what you may have heard, or what people may have told you; you can lose weight from the comfort of your home. 

Here’s the even better part: It can be done for FREE or little to nothing

As a mother of two (at the time), I didn’t have a lot of free time to go to the gym whenever I pleased. And to be honest, being that I was a rookie, I didn’t have a desire (or confidence) to even join one. I never allowed that to stop me though.

If I wanted to lose weight from home, I knew I needed something that was time efficient, affordable, and delivered results.


Little-to-Nothing Workout Programs

All of the programs listed below are ones that I have personally used over the course of my fitness journey. They all contributed to my weight loss from home. Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred

This DVD brings back so many memories of myself at the beginning of my journey. Although, I had no idea of what I was doing, Jillian taught me a lot.

I was able to learn about strength training, proper form, and boy, did she work up a sweat! The three levels included in this DVD helped me build endurance and lose inches!

Fitness level: intermediate, advanced 



Jillian Michaels Cardio Kickstart

If you aren’t into strength training just yet, this workout program is another good option that is reasonbly priced and delivers great results.

I used to have so much fun doing this routine. I was always challenged to do better each time I exercised. There are 3 routines on one DVD, so the price not only pays for itself, but gives you options as well.

Fitness level: intermediate, advanced


HASfit is a newly found favorite of mine. For obvious reason; it’s FREE. I also love that they have all kinds of workouts from beginner to advanced.

Whether you’re looking for cardio, strength training, abs, or High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), it can be found on their YouTube channel. I’ve been doing their routines for a couple of months now, and I see and feel a difference in my legs, midsection, and strength.

Fitness Blender 

Another FREE option found on YouTube is Fitness Blender. The channel is ran by Kelly and Daniel (husband and wife) and their love for fitness and overall health shows in each and every workout video.

I really love their HIIT and total body strength training videos. If you are short on time in your day, they have plenty of routines that cater toward getting a good, effective workout in 20 minutes or less.

21 Day Fix EXTREME

Okay, so…21 Day Fix EXTREME was (and still is) my all-time favorite workout program! I love the instructor, Autumn Calabrese. If I ever got a chance to meet someone famous, she would be my first pick, because she helped me learn how and what to eat, and how much of it I should be eating in order to lose weight.

To be honest, her workout program can be a bit pricey, but it’s worth every penny. It not only comes with 8 different workout DVD’s, but it comes with portion control containers, a meal plan, and food list.

Remember when I said Jillian Michaels introduced me to strength training? Well, Autumn made me fall in love with it! She’s the reason I prefer weights over cardio.

Leslie Sansone: Walk Away The Pounds


Here’s another reasonably priced DVD that brings back so many old memories. Leslie Sansone introduced me to exercising from the comfort of my own home. Walking with her in front of my TV helped me slim down in my arms and midsection.

When people asked me what I was doing to lose weight, they looked at me as if I were crazy when I told them that I walk at home, lol! Some people don’t believe it actually works (because you’re walking x amount of miles in place), but trust me, it does! 

Fitness level: beginner, intermediate

Body Project 

I don’t know about you, but I’m living for these great FREE options! 

I recently found Body Project while searching for low impact workouts to do during my pregnancy earlier this year. I was happy to stumble upon Body Project’s YouTube channel because the instructor, (…I just realized I don’t even know his name, smh) is so gentle and genuine. He reminds you to go at your own pace and that you can stop to take a break without feeling as though you failed. 

Fitness level: beginner, intermediate, advanced
